So - besides AOB, Texas is one of my fave bands, so I had been looking very much forward to this new album... Anyone else liking them? I think I saw a texas banner in a signature when I read a few messages earlier today when I got back online here at THB...
My favorite tracks from the new album are, Can't Resist, Get Down Tonight, Just Hold On...
Not sure how the album is doing - the press seems quite positive (I think) - but are quite fast to compare the album to White On Blonde - and says it's a safer bet then their last studio album, Careful What You Wish For, which wasn't very successful...
I don't like the cover photo too much - think she looks too old compared to all the amazing shots she usually has taken - I even like the cover to the single Can't Resist better...

Is Can't Resist the new single?? I heard it (and saw the video) in HMV in London. It was sooo good, I wanted to buy it, but it hadn't been released yet.
I love Say What You Want and Summer Son.

Hey guys!
My album jsut came in from Hong Kong (thanks CDWOW....) today! The first thing I noticed was that indeed, there shots of Sharleen inside the booklet are much better than the cover. It is not a flattering photo.
I loved GETAWAY, but CAN'T RESIST is a little boring for me. I haven't listened to the whole album yet (I'm only on track three as I type this!), but I remeber WHAT ABOUT US sounded fabulous.
I can't wait to get a closer listen to this later today. I'll post more thoughts then!

Lars: My banner *hehe* Yup I love Texas :) Ever since I saw them at Marktrock in August. I was amazed so I started looking for info on the band. Their songs are great! Don't know half of them yet but...
Red Book is a great album. My favourite songs are Getaway, Masterthief, What about us and Sleep.
I'm really looking forward to this Showcase they'll be doing on Nov the 27th here.

I really like Getaway. But whenever I get one of their albums I am bored with the total package!
These are some of my favs:
Summer Son
Getaway
I Don't Want A Lover
Say What You Want etc..
Has anyone else noticed the fact that Getaway is really similar to Nathan Jones by the Supremes/Bananarama

Jewel: That's cool :) I hope the showcase tomorrow is awesome - I'm jaloux! Would love to see them in person one day. Heard they might tour more next year so hopefully they might come to Denmark :) I just bought the "Live In Paris" dvd so at least that's a bit like being at a concert with them hehe - well ... i wish...
Anyway, I finally got my deluxe edition from play.com, and the acoustic tracks on the dvd from Abbey studio are quite good! Sharleen is amazing live!
Has any of you seen the new video for the next single Sleep? It's quite cute and funny - has some scenes from the movie "Ghost" and other fun stuff in it as jokes..

I still want to write something about this showcase. It was truly amazing!
I got up really early to take the train to Brussels to meet up with 2 Texas fans at 11h30. It was the first time meeting other Texans because I'm relatively new to TID. I became a fan after seeing Texas perform at Marktrock in August earlier this year.
At the studios we met up with the rest of the TID bunch and ended up waiting several hours in a small building where it was extremely hot. The showcase would be at 5h.
Anyway, we were first told they were going to do only 5 songs but they ended up doing 9! First of was Getaway and everyone was really excited and into it already. After that Sharleen said they had a hard time choosing setlists because they have so many songs and said we could help. There was this girl in the front row who had a paper saying "Please do So Called friend" and since she always asked that at every gig the band decided to sing it so we got that!! I personally love that song so I was extremely happy about it It made my day. Then they did Sleep followed up by Inner Smile and Can't resist. After that she played Nevermind on the piano and I must say, like many others, I like it more live but for some reason I've learned to appreciate the cd version as well.
Texas is such a funny band and it was great that they chatted with the crowd between songs. I loved the stories about where she got her nickname Radar from (Apparently she can follow all conversations when she's in a room) and the story about the French Firefighters helmet she got (They are big, shiny and sexy according to her) LOL
Then we got Summer son, Say what you want and I don't want a lover and the latter was FAN-TAS-TIC! I really enjoyed this new (?) Country version of the song and had so much fun singing and clapping along to it.
The showcase was recorded and they broadcast about 5 songs so I'll be putting them online soon with some (funny) videos. Btw, there was no space between the crowd (200 people max) and the band. We were in the 3rd row or something.
We weren't allowed to take pictures with flash so mine didn't turn out so well but another fan didn't mind me using his so here are some pictures from the showcase.

They're really great, Mona! I only just got into them last summer, because of the song "GETAWAY" from their RED BOOK album.
My favourite song I think is WHAT ABOUT US.

I'm gonna see them next year at The Night Of The Proms! It won't be as exciting as seeing Ace of Base, but very nice to have them as the final act on the show!

I heard the Jelling festival was great!
I did see them at Bercy in Paris in May. It was absolutely great so I'm going to see them again in August (Belgium, France and Switserland) and at Night of the Proms at least once.
But it's this year Rudy :D
Mona: I told you I was pretty sure would know the music.... :D

Thought I'd post this:
Texas singer Sharleen Spiteri halted her performance at Hyde Park Calling over the weekend after she was pelted by a fan with a shoe.
The 38-year-old pointed out the offender and threatened to walk offstage following the incident.
Spiteri eventually regained her composure though and went on to complete her set.
And someone filmed it:
