She will be here in July I think... I like her but I believe she's doing a mistake.
She tries too hard to look sexy and she doesn't have to cause she's sexy already...

What's the mistake?
If being sexy is a crime.............arrest her!
I prefer her more naturally sexy now than when she had bleached blonde hair or when she had darker hair and bad clothes. But her albums are still political and so is she, but she has always liked to fill the dance floor too :COLOMBIA: :_rocker:

I like her very much! She has a great voice, the songs are powerfull, and she seems to be very nice and not vain. Yeah, she's very sexy without strong make up and blonde hair!
Hips don't lie is number 2 in Italy, just because there is a very good song at number 1. Go Shakira! ;-)

No, I don't mean that being sexy is a mistake but some times some women overdo it. I believe she tries to look sexy in a fake way sometimes while she doesn't need that cause even if she did nothing she would still be sexy. I hope you got what I mean...

I wanna know if she is good on stage?

Babis -
Yeah I know what you mean. It was a total shock to see her in the video for 'Suerte / Whenever Wherever' with bleached blonde hair, writhing in mud, after years of seeing her on stage with a guitar and brunette braids ha ha. But nowadays she looks more natural.

Marlous -
I saw her in London a few years ago, and the show was awesome. She has total energy, and wowed the audience. She can sing live, plays the drums and guitar and belly dances...! There's a concert DVD out called 'Live off the record' or something like that which has a great documentary on it as well. I'm obsessed with this woman! :_sunshine

Congratulations to Shakira on her first UK number one this week!
The best thing is that she *climbed* the charts over a number of weeks. This is not normal for a UK chart, as 90% of the time, a song makes its highest entry on the first week. To get to the top spot over three weeks is VERY rare, especially considering that this song was hardly ever played on the radio here.
Ace of Base could do that with the right song. :)

She's very popular here even after the song is played too much!

Here is UK the song is hardly played at all!
Even though Shakira has returned to the number 1 singles chart in the UK after 4 weeks off the top spot, the main station 'BBC Radio 1' doesn't have her on their playlists, not even the C list!
haha! Poor Shakira...

Hi Oneira!
I would have *loved* to have gone to one of the early concerts in Europe... But I have taken all my holiday time to go to Colombia in September.
I met Babis' frined Alex when he was in London last week and he had been to the Athens concert and said it was fantastic! I will have to wait until 2007. Make sure you take some pictures from Boston :)
The charts have been announced and Shakira is still number one in the UK, which is a good omen because it may mean we get more tour dates!!

The general public also liked Crazy Frog, and Sandi Thumb...I think it's sour grapes cos most of your favourites are hangng onto a record contract by the skin of their teeth :-P ... but yeah it's all down to pesonal taste. A lot of people don't like her voice, I doubt she's bovvered though :-)
I don't think you can compare the realtively small time success of Crazy Frog with an established singer/songwriter like Shakira though. I did not see Crazy Throg or Sandi Fumb cling onto the number one spot for weeks and weeks in nearly every country in the world. This is week #11 and Shakira is still at number one here. No cartoon frog did that...

I'm not sour about anything... I think this song is at best average, and I can't fathom how it's managing to shift sales, but i'm not surprised though...it IS the UK after all.
and Shakira was struggling BIG time until she got a rent-a-crapper to do a song for her.

Struggling before HDL? :rotfl:
I think you'll find she was hot off the cuff of winning Best Female at the MTV EMAs beating off competition from Madonna, Xtina etc, after her amazingly successful Fijacion Oral Volumen 1..! Where have you been, the moon (or North America)?

FY eye: In this day and age, album sales are everything, the singles are there mainly there to promote an album. Shakira has not ever had a flop album. Even her live album sales dwarf anything by your septic waifs.
I cannot believe Rachel Stevens has even been mentioned in a Shakira thread. She is merely a figure of fun even for kids, and her talent and stage presence can be compared to a very boring wall. Saying that Shakira is not original ('La Tortura', 'Objection', hello?) then bigging up Rachel Stevens is laughable.
She is not only a cringeing mediocrity but is also as dull as dishwater.:re:

Also... About the rent-a-rapper thing, if North Americans weren't so insular they would actually learn that Shakira has worked with rappers before, and the more you know about South America and Colombia, then the more you will like Shakira. Shakira is from the Carribbean, including the West Indies. So any Carribbean involvement is very close to home for her.
Edit: due to vanity.

When you say 'here' I think you're talking about North America. So how do explain the song's popularity in the other 100 countries?
Is it because she's wearing a red dress? Or a necklace?
I heard that the song was only successful in Holland because Shakira was wearing earth tone mascara. It's absolutely true, and those that say so aren't bitter because thay're fans of failing artists that can't write their own songs, let alone pick up a guitar.
I can't believe them. It's nonsense. :)

It's worth a look if you're thinking about sponsoring a child or whatever. It's a problem in the fact that in Colombia, the government is very different fom a European one. There are 3 MILLION children in Colombia that are working kids, and they can't study. Colombia's hierarchy have left the children behind.
