Has anyone got it yet? What do you think?
I just stole my flatmate's and have listened to it twice straight away and love it... My favourite tracks so far are Hung Up, Sorry and Push. Aaagh I can't wait to get into the rest of it... I haven't been this excited about an album since Da Capo came out!

Joel!
The album is good! I like the thing she did with the Abba sample.
Sorry is good, aswell as Future Lovers!
I need to listen to it some more!
There is some Dutch on it tho...in Sorry she says 'Ik ben droevig'

I *really* love it! My favorites are definetly "Get Together", "Sorry" and "Jump" - sure to do better than American Life (Which I also loved) :)
aaaaaaaaah oh my god I can't stop playing Push! I don't know why, but the music is just so sublime... her voice, the music, the way the beat just stumbles through the track... i can't get enough of it!

I just got it on my way home from school -- and I've listened to it just once. I love it!!!
The first few songs were a bit samey, so I was a little bit worried. But it gets more diverse with the beats later on. (I think the whole idea of stitching the songs together backfired in this respect -- it makes similar sounding songs sound even more similar.)
My favorites so far are Push, How High, Sorry, Let It Will Be, etc -- they're all EXCELLENT!
I'm not too keen on Isaac and I Love New York. The latter has no melody! Eeek.
Overall, I'm very impressed. Despite the sameyness, the songs themselves are very catchy and so well-produced, of course. I need a few more listens to really gage everything.

I bought it early in Holland and it's SO GOOD! Jump is my favourite at the moment, Sorry, Push and Let It Will Be are very good too! We'll be going to Sven Väths Cocoon Club next weekend (his Gay night is called "MY ASS" LOL) and hope they'll play the entire record.
Drake: I knew you'd dislike ILNY cos she disses L.A. in it, haha!!!

No you didn't! I'd love to come back to London, after all it's my favourite city (and no Karnig, it's not L.A. :teehee:)... but I have other things planned plus I'd rather see Kylie than Madonna :P

Kylie? I saw her earlier this year... Prefer Madge though!!
Well you always have a place to stay in London at mine, so get over here asap!

Believe it or not Madonna was sued for plagiarism here in this 'Monkeyland' and she lost. They aren't allowed to sell any cd with Frozen on it or even play the song on the radio ever again.
Lee - why don't you like Push? I'm curious to know why you wouldn't like it, I think it's like honey! I adore it...
Jewel I don't understand your post... she got sued because she plagarised some other song to use in Frozen?
Lee-UK
11-19-2005, 01:25 PM
Joel - I think Push sounds too simple (I think that's the word I mean)
You push me, da da da da da da da
You push me, da da da da da da da
You push me, da da da da da da da etc. etc.
Then there's the 'Every Step I Take' part which again is very simple and has no depth like most of the other tracks.
Don't get me wrong though, Push is no 'Act of Contrition' and I wont skip the track, but a lot of the other tracks are far more outstanding (IMO).
Jewel
11-19-2005, 02:27 PM
Joel: I'm just saying that Belgium is a 'Monkeyland'. Anything's possible here. So ridiculous. Yes, so many years ago Madonna was sued by a Belgian Salvatore Acquaviva for "stealing" 1 staff (?) from one of his compositions. It was used in Frozen. The Judge ruled this week that she did indeed "steal" it and very soon no radio station is allowed to play Frozen ever again. All cds/dvds that have frozen on it have to be taken out of the shops and cannot be sold anymore here.
Lee > Aah okay, fair enough. I was just curious to get another perspective :-) I see what you mean, but I think that the simplicity is part the reason why I like it...
Jewel > thanks for explaining! I didn't hear about that court case... how strange that they'd take steps to actually remove all her CD's and DVD's with Frozen on it. I'm surprised they didn't just make Madonna pay this man a sum of money or something...

I think I might regret it, but I've added this album to my Christmas list!
After feeling sick that I'd actually spent money on American Life, there was no way I was going to buy this one myself... lol
Kept thinking I hadn't heard Hung Up, but turns out I'd been hearing bits of it for weeks without realising what it was! Doh!

I liked the guitars on American Life. But I think the problem was that they didn't have soul in them, they sounded like they were being played artificially like by a computer.

Gemma: Ohh yeah, that one was good. You know, the songs were catchy enough that I wouldn't say I hated them. I just wouldn't make it a point to play them, as I would the synthy stuff. (Story of my life. lol)
How good was Mother & Father?? I loooooved that song. And Nobody Knows Me is perfection, especially the Italo Kiss Mix.

AMERICAN LIFE definitely carried a musical theme, that I think doesn't lend itself well to repeated play in its entirety. It was futuristic in many ways.
I loved:
AMERICAN LIFE
LOVE PROFUSION and
DIE ANOTHER DAY, very much.
CONFESSIONS is quite different, but you can still find Madonna as she is now in a lot of the lyrics, which I think people hoped would be absent given that this was a "dance" album.
A few days after it was released, my friends and I were going to the HARRY POTTER midnight showing, and on the bus I saw a young guy, kinda punky looking, opening his brand new Madge CD on the crowded bus. I smiled to myself as he opened the booklet and flipped through, because there was an older man sitting next to him looking at it.
Some of the positions she's in, in those photos... It made me blush for that kid! The old man made a comment to him about it and he smiled and agreed but I didn't hear what they said. Prolly, "You can almost see her cooter!"
TomUk
11-24-2005, 04:20 AM
Ha ha!! I saw it up close on Saturday! She was shouting "It's so hot in here, I should have worn my bathing suit!... Wait! I DID!!"
When I had Madonna posters up in my room when I was younger, my Mum used to say "Why can't you find a girl your OWN age?" :teehee:
cooter!!! lmao... I thought that was an Australian saying haha
Tom > can you tell us what songs she did, what the crowd was like etc? I don't know anyone that managed to go! :(

Joel, I haven't got time for a full report, but check this out
http://www.madonnalicious.com/
and it pretty much gives you an idea.
You should have come! It was easy if you put your mind to it. The atmosphere was electric from before Madonna was on until hours after, the music was fantastic, and the performance far exceeded expectations. It was by far the best night I have had at that venue, and is a contender for best night out in London ever!
Aaaaaaaaaaah Tom I've just read that website. So many great articles! The G-A-Y concert sounds brilliant... my god, I had to play the album and get the effect! I'm so jealous :sigh:
I can't believe Madonna didn't go #1 with Hung Up!! What on earth is going on over there! Has there been much promotion in the USA?
TomUk
11-26-2005, 06:58 AM
Joel, it's not like UK where a single goes in at the highest position. The album was #1 there though I think. She was #1 here at her home though so that's what counts hehe

I LOVE this cd. I sort of stopped listening to Madonna after the Ray of Light album, but I was told that I had to get this. So I did and I'm a happy guy. I love Push, Forbidden Love and Future Lovers. Get Together and How High are also awesome. I haven't had it long enough to pick a favorite. But I think the cd turned me gay!! kidding : )

Someone needs to watch Ghostbusters to learn more about twinkies.
As for the album, I've been listening for 2 weeks solid and can say that I'm very pleased. After the catastrophe of American Life, it's nice that she got back to making something listenable and real music - ie: that's music that's focused on actual music, not side issues like agendas and image.
The album's still growing on me too. Initially I wasn't too impressed, but now I love it. Not as good as ROL (then, what is?), but on a par with Music at least.
Favourite song would be Sorry. It's classic Madonna. I esp love the intro - reminiscient of the Paradise Not For Me track from Music that is one of my all time faves. But really, no real weak tracks on Confessions. None that make me feel like a dork! Even that Karballah inspired thing is ok. I just need to curb my natural instincts to hit the skip button whenever it first starts up.
BTW, is it just me or does the Push verses sound a little like Like A Prayer chorus? Have a good listen. Push lyrics in brackets:
"When you call my name (Every race I'm in)
It's like a little prayer (Every mood I'm in)
I'm down on my knees (Everything I do)
I wanna take you there (I owe it all to you)
In the midnight our (Every move I make)
I can feel your power (Every step I take)
Just like a prayer (Every thing I do)
You know I'll take you there (It's all because you push me)"
The last line has been stretched a little in Push, but I tell you, the whole thing's a rip-off!
Mmmm. My Like A Prayer album booklet still has that scent in it. Amazing, after all these years.

Well I hope that I am NOT the last person to jump on the Maddy wagon ...:loser:
Great album. Woke up this morning, and 'itching' for some music at 6:30 !
What do you want to hear ?
Maddy / Confessions ! In one word : Inspired ! four star entertainment !!!!
While the first three songs are very good, they feel like programming.
Future Lovers is where the Maddona effect begins .
Keep in mind that 2 of the 3 songs are designated as singles .
But.
Push is a super song ...and Jump has a positive vibe going .
It' s scary to think of her age,,, and her daughter is ...
imagine what it would be like to have Maddy as your mother...
and listen to her on the radio ??? Poor kid .:re:

I got so desperate to get the CD before I went to school that I went to Wal-Mart at 6:00 AM.
My favorite songs are: Get Together, Let It Will Be (weird grammar), and Jump. I really didn't enjoy Hung Up as much as everyone else has. I did like the MOTOROKR commercial, though. I can never watch that enough. I let Jacob (previously bahamutslave) have my burned copy and he loves it too.

The thing I didn't understand is if she was tying in her Forbidden Love song with the one on her Bedtime Stories album. I could tell from the background music at the beginning sounded like the chorus, but I would think she would have incorporated some of the lyrics!

Just read she said in an interview that she is currently thinking about ideas for her second single, which will be Sorry and that she plans on letting it continue from where Hung Up ended... Good news I think - I love Sorry + Let It Will Be... I think the albums rocks, the only song I don't like too much is I Love New York...

You mean the video is going to continue on as well? Oooooooooooooh that's such a brilliant idea.
