Review from The Guardian, national UK newspaper, today:

t.A.T.u.Friend Or Foe (Interscope)
Pompous, turgid, paint-by-numbers Europop, likely to fulfil the same role once played by Ace Of Base's All That She Wants, ie driving continental travellers to the brink of violence by being on the radio in every taxi between Calais and Constanta. Tatu are coming very close to accomplishing the hitherto unimaginable, ie making the idea of faux-lesbian Russian schoolgirls singing pop songs seem tedious. Sting plays bas on this. Blame him.

Not really positive...

I love the way critics write reviews.

What a strange review. The guy obviously has no clue, or he'd no that t.A.T.u. are hardly ever on UK radio nowadays. Does this mean the single is released today? I wonder if it has a good b-side, then I'll buy it :)

ATSW drove people to the brink of violence?

Yes, I can see how with all the talk of guns and let's not forget the subliminal messages.........

Weird piece, didn't he realise the hunting part was a metaphor? At least they're still remembered by critics! Yahoo!!!

CD1
1. Friend Or Foe (Single Version)
2. Not Gonna Get Us (Radio Version)

CD2
1. Friend or Foe (Single Version)
2. All About Us (Sunset In Ibiza Radio Mix By Guéna LG)
3. Friend or Foe (Morel's Pink Noise Mix)
4. Friend or Foe (Video)

Btw, I thought I was the only one not getting the heavy radio airplay comment... the reviewer obviously doesn't know what he's talking about. *sigh*

Thanks Julien.

I don't think I'll get it because I don't really tend to like remixes. Fabolous song though. Is the single version any different from the album version?

You're welcome! About the single version, I don't know... never heard it. Maybe it's shorter?

Yes, and this is why they had to stop releasing Ace of Base albums here in the United States.

They wanted to try to lower the crime rate, and those damn AOB songs were messing everything up.

I just totally agree with the person who wrote that review. How dare t.A.T.u release a song like this, they should be sent to whereever Linn is nowadays. No more influencing us with bad bad bad messages!

*sighs*

BTW - I'm sorry if my sarcasm was confusing.

I wasn't mocking anyone here but rather Arista and actually the record industry.

AOB are so squeaky clean, let's face it, that's the main reason they've been shut out of the U.S. music scene the past several years.

L.A./Hollywood do not want Charlotte Church when they can get Britney Spears (in her "I was a Catholic school girl virgin, but that got boring so I now sleep with everyone including ugly guys who impregnate me" era)/Christina (in her dirrrty period)/Jessica (in her "Screw Nick, I want to be a bad ass party girl" era)

Yeah people needs trash. They don't need ordinary guys. Those are not entertaining enough...

The positive side of this review is that Ace of Base haven't been forgotten! lol
