Big Brother....Grande Fratello

Hi acers! :-)

I wanted to start a topic about this show. I'm used to watching it when I have some free times even if I'm not a huge fan of it. But of course I can't say that I don't like it.
I've heard about the Big Brother in the world and for example I heard that in Germany it hasn't a big success, that in England there are always strange things to attract the attention of the audience.

So, do you like it? Has it got success in your country?

The sixth Big brother (the translation is Grande Fratello) started in Italy some days ago.
A particular thing is that this year there is a guy, Augusto De Megni, who was kidnapped when he was ten and so he was very known in that time, and now he joined the house. Strange to see him there. When I find a pic I'll post it.

He's a friend of a close friend of mine and saw him at some parties..... the pic explains what he is.... he he he I find him ridiculous, the typical roman.

In Poland we had 3 editions of Big Brother.

The first one was the most success of course. It was something new on Polish TV so everyone was observing it. I had a lot of fun watching players. There was among other things: stupid teenager, typical macho-man, serious father of his family (he won), very intelligent and malicious man, "crazy" girl - very weird mix :lol:

Player have became very popular in Poland. Some of them still are on TV, have own programs etc. Some of them are even politicians.

One year after first editions almost all players starred in one movie. It was really stupid film but it became one of biggest hits in Polish cinemas then.:worried:

The second and third editions weren't as popular as the first one. But I remember that in third one, guy and girl had sex. Of course TV showed it. :devil: It was huge scandal :lol:

Last Big Brother in Poland ended in may 2002.

I thoughed its a DUTCH IDEA.and some dutch guy is very RICH now!.......isn`t he??

anyway............I loved the first one.......becouse then its new.......and noone knows what to expect.........but I HATE it NOWADAYS, becouse now its only for ppl who NEED atenion........

In Portugal we had 4 editions + 2 editions with "Celebrities".
The 1st edition was very succesful, the 2nd wasn't like the 1st but was very succesful too, the third had less success and the 4th was a flop, the celebrities editions had more or less the same success has the regular 2nd edition.
I saw the 1st edition but i lost the interest in the others, anyway big Brother is over for some years here but we have other reality shows.

here in spain the 7 edition is ending in two weeks and as famous as the first one each one is diferent and each year is funniest because there are strabger people in it.it also has benn 2 edition of celebrities but i don´t like them they are so boring.i don´t know how this will last how many editions are going to be????if this continue this way all the spanish people are going to participate in it haha

Yeah, I can understand what you mean. The first one was the most interesting as it was something new. Many people get bored by it, but it still have very much success here even if it's the sixth edition.

Ha ha ha! :-P It seems that Big Brother still have success in few countries. I can understand it for the things that Marlous wrote. It can be a show that bore you after few editions.
But like you, I still like it. I'm not the one who love it but it's funny. Of course like in Spain, they put into the house strange people....sometimes too strange :rotfl:
We have never had big brother with celebrities. There are other realities with celebrities like "The isle of famous people" (that's like SURVIVOR but with VIPs. It has much success here. Survivor with common people was a real flop) , "The farm", etc... but not at Big brother. Maybe I prefer it with common people... even if I must say that people who go there have some important contacts with the show biz.... too hard to join it without people who work in that world.
