I love them, and I happen to own every album from Felt Mountain to Supernature :-D
Looking forward to their third single "Ride A White Horse".

IMO its the best album they have ever released, I seriously love every song. Where as with the last two there is some filler.

And my roommate is the huuuuge Goldfrapp fan. She loves their first album, so I'm trying to get her to teach me. :-P

I actually boycott Goldfrapp nowadays for Miss Goldfrapp's rude and condescending comments toward Rachel Stevens. Sorry. :( lol

I admit, she does need to tone down the slagging a lot, but I still love their music. I just don't understand why she feels the need to anyway...does it make her better? No.

Join the boycott!
I just can't stand the current anti-pop movement in the music industry. So, I support pop artists as much as I can, and I choose not to support those who help perpetuate anti-pop sentiment.
I also boycott Franz Ferdinand, etc.
It's one thing to dislike a genre of music. It's another to disrespect it and the artists and fans who like that genre.

What did Alison say?????

This is 1 of 2. This one that I found is the tamer one.
In response to someone saying Rachel Stevens' "Some Girls" sounds like Goldfrapp's "Strict Machine" (which it does, and actually out-does Goldfrapp)...
"I think I heard it once on Top Of The Pops and thought it was very bland," says Alison of the song. "I really hope that people don't think we're bland like that.
"I've nothing against her. I mean the poor girl probably doesn't have anything to do with what she does anyway. But I don't see any relation to what we're doing at all.
"It's a weird one because when Ooh La La first got played on the radio someone said, adopts stupid voice - Ooh it sounds just like Rachel Stevens".
She also had this to say upon being told that she was being labeled the "Alternative Kylie": "We don't have anything in common apart from the fact that we are female. I'm not that kitsch popette. I write all my songs. And she's a lot shorter than me."
Ugh, you only wish you have the longevity and admiration that Kylie has!

From a musician's and songwriter's standpoint, I can understand her frustration though. I have a whole family of people of write music, and forget about even getting their respect for someone who just sings whatever's handed to them.
I think Alison is just trying to distinguish herself as an artist who's completely in control of her own music and image. God I heart her!!

Meh. She can distinguish herself by keeping her mouth shut and showing respect for others. There are plenty of singer-songwriters who don't have to scream that fact in a megaphone in every interview they do. Modesty is a nice quality. So is respect.

It seemed more like she was confronted with the comparison, not that she brought it up to scream about it. Meh HEH.

Like I said, there is another interview. And there are also interviews where she goes off on other artists, too (eg, Kylie).
She could also be polite about it. For example, "You know, many people make these comparisons. I see them, too, to an extent. But I would put us in different categories, for many different reasons." etc etc.

I already am!!!
I almost bought the new Goldfrapp album when I was in Chicago this weekend. However, I was buying about 1 billion other things so I settled for the US "Number 1" single instead.
I like it. The b-sides are a little sketchy, but "Number 1" is a good song.
Karnig: It's strange that you brought up Goldfrapp's comments on Rachel Stevens and Kylie Minogue. I didn't know she had said that. It seems to me that I would like Goldfrapp a lot more than I do if they didn't take themselves so seriously. I only like a few of their other songs ("Strict Machine," "Black Cherry," "Twist") and I think it's because they don't seem to be having as much fun with their music as Rachel or Kylie, etc. Does that make any sense at all?

It does! I agree completely.

Number 1 had a b-side? I'm guessing it was "Beautiful" ?
Eric-Hang-Around

"Beautiful" and I think another one as well. I ordered it, so we'll see....
Ryan!! The new album is muuuuch better than the Black Cherry album. Number 1 is just the tip of the iceberg.

i guess i would need to rephrase that..if she was sexy by the industry's standards then things would be different..she's better than kylie imo but will never reach that status because of her looks. my opinon, i think she's "cute"
